Burned paws

Dog paws burn in temperatures over 77 degrees

Las Vegas— 5-5-22RUN DAWG is a mobile dog gym that serves the Las Vegas valley, providing exercise for dogs on treadmills in a climate-controlled van. As the weather gets hotter and we are seeing our first 100-degree temperatures of 2022, it is important to remember that when the air temperature is only 77 degrees, the temperature of asphalt is 125. When the air temperature is 95, that asphalt temperature skyrockets to over 149 degrees. A dog’s paws will begin to burn at 120 degrees, meaning any day over 75 becomes dangerous to walk your dog on pavement, concrete, sand, or artificial turf.  Dog paws can blister in as little as 30 seconds if exposed to these temperatures. Hot weather can also raise your dog’s core temperature over 105 degrees, which is where they begin to experience heat distress and possibly even heat stroke.

“Climate-controlled exercise”

Even though Las Vegas will see upwards of 5 months a year with temperatures that are too hot to walk your dog, it is still important to give them exercise. A lack of physical activity can shorten a dog’s life, and also contribute to behavioral issues like destructiveness and aggressiveness. Every year, thousands of dogs are abandoned at shelters for these reasons. Regular exercise can help to provide better cardiovascular health, as well as a calmer and happier mental state. By providing the physical activity that dogs need in a climate-controlled environment that is safe and supervised, RUN DAWG Mobile Dog Gym allows dogs to exercise all year long. By using non-motorized treadmills and positive motivation, the workouts are tailored specifically to the dog’s needs or limitations, while keeping them in great physical condition.

RUN DAWG Mobile Dog Gym

RUN DAWG was developed to provide dog owners with the ability to give their dogs the exercise they need, even if you can’t go out and walk with them for hours.  It provides an alternative to dog parks where diseases and physical confrontations are always a possibility. It helps stop destructiveness and aggressiveness that cause thousands of dogs to be given up to shelters every year. RUN DAWG is for Las Vegas dog owners who want a better life for their dogs.
